The secrets of photography encapsulated in a short course.
The course aims to educate students on the image and to experiment and apply in concrete reality the ability to tell stories through the exploration of places and emotions linked to everyday life, gradually learning the language of Photographic Reportage: a study path balanced between technique and expression.
At the end of the course, a certificate of attendance is issued, provided the student attends at least 8 out of the 10 scheduled lessons, for a possible recognition of 2 ECTS.

Objectives
Students will be given the basic knowledge to create a photographic story. During outings to different places in the city, thematic photographic reportages will be created through a series of digital photographs in black and white or colour. The course is structured in theoretical and practical lessons, integrating the analysis of the work carried out by the students with the study of photographic language and the viewing of some experiences that have made the history of Photography.
In particular, attention will be given to the study of the history of photojournalism, from the experience of the FSA and the Photo League to the new Multimedia challenges.
This programme addresses the specific questions of classic reportage (Who, What, When, Where, Why); the specific and comprehensive study of equipment; the desk planning of a reportage (Research and Revision); and will address deontological and ethical-professional issues.
The course provides participants with the opportunity for greater mutual knowledge and the tools to better face this image-dominated world.

Andrea Sabbadini was born in 1963 in Rome where he lives and works in the field of Photography.
He graduated in Psychology in 1988 at “La Sapienza” University.
From 1989 to 1992 in London, he attended the Photography School of Visual and Performing Arts, winning the Merit award in the BIPP/FUJI Student Photographic Competition on the theme “The New Optimism”.
In 1993, he won first prize with the group “Scale Dorsali” in the international competition for young artists at the Maastricht Biennial, sound installations and video art.
Since 1996, he has collaborated with major national and international newspapers and magazines and is a member of the Order of Journalists. From 2005 to 2010, he taught photography at Richmond University in Rome. In 2010, he collaborated with the International and European Forum for Immigration Research in the research group “Labour Migration Governance in Contemporary Europe”.
From 2010 to 2014, he was the press office photographer for the National Forensic Council.
In 2012, he worked on a photojournalistic survey of the socio-economic reality in Italy and Europe during the years of the crisis, collaborating closely with journalist Angelo Mastrandrea.
From 2013 to 2019, he taught photojournalism at the Rome University of Fine Arts.
In 2019, he produced with photographer Alessandro Parente and artist Libre Vagabund “Water Box” a project with indigenous communities of the Pacific coast of Mexico on behalf of Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, WA.
He is currently a stringer for Polaris Images and a staff member of Buenavista photo, a network of Italian freelance photographers.
His personal documentation work develops through the photography of places and people, starting from the chronicle of daily life to investigate social and cultural issues. Andrea Sabbadini’s photographs appear on the front pages and inside prestigious daily and weekly newspapers, such as Il Manifesto, Repubblica, Internazionale, El Pais, The Guardian.
