What We Look For Beyond Seeing

Exhibition by artist Bianca Poláková, RUFA Fine Arts student.
Curated by Fabrizio Pizzuto.

Open to the public from October 31 to November 15, 2025, at the RUFA Space, via degli Ausoni 7, 00185 – Rome.

For the Contemporary Art Foundations Committee‘s tenth anniversary celebrations, RUFA, Pastificio Cerere Foundation, Memmo Foundation, and NOMAS Foundation present the solo exhibition by artist Bianca Poláková, who is enrolled in the RUFA Master’s programme in Fine Arts.

The solo exhibition of artist Bianca Poláková WHAT WE LOOK FOR BEYOND SEEING, curated by Fabrizio Pizzuto, represents the second stage of the project and follows the exhibition 1+1=11 by artist Daria Shoshani.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR BEYOND SEEING presents an exploration of fairy tales and their impact on both the individual and society.

Six enclosed spaces, defined and covered in resin, resembling, not by chance, the pods of seeds. Each seed contains its own world and serves as a portal, bridging the here and now with other possible literary worlds. The material and conceptual differences between individual natural systems are dismantled, synthesized, and reformulated. This secondary world offers a space for free interpretation, where the viewer can invent and rethink their own story.
The installation recreates a sense of wonder: as the head enters the seeds (or portals), the feet remain anchored in the real world, and the mind is transported elsewhere.

The exhibition addresses themes such as growth and the loss of time—created during the pandemic—war, loneliness, and anxiety; the work reflects the search for a happy ending. This project invites the viewer to forget themselves and the surrounding world, opening their eyes to a sense of wonder and otherness.

Contemporary Art Foundations Committee

The Contemporary Art Foundations Committee is a network of private foundations active throughout the national territory, created to enhance the public/private relationship in the field of contemporary art and culture, to strengthen relationships with institutions and local communities, and to promote further partnerships aimed at improving the Italian art system.
Established in 2014, the Committee currently includes 18 members. Born with the intention of initiating a dialogue with the Ministry of Culture and its Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity (DGCC), the Committee signed a first Memorandum of Understanding with the MiC in 2015 and a second one in 2021. As part of the Memorandum of Understanding of 2021, the DGCC and the Committee are currently realizing “Bel Paese. Promoting Italian Art Around the World,” an international networking program supporting Italian artists.
