Thursday 27 April special guest in the Academy: Taye Balogun, director, activist and Festival Director of The NGO International Film Festival, will hold an ‘open’ lecture for all RUFA students, and in particular those enrolled in the Master in Cinema and New Formats Production, and in the academic courses of Cinema and Film Arts. During the meeting, the director will talk about his more than ten years’ experience on the international scene, touching on the following key topics:
– How to influence and get the attention of a distracted generation.
– Trending Videos versus Impact Videos.
– Art as an advocacy tool for social change.
– Who are you cooking for? Who is your audience?
The meeting, lasting approximately one hour, will be held from 11.30 a.m. on the RUFA Campus in via Libetta 7, in Room G07. During the lesson, students will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with a professional who has gained in-depth experience in the field of filmmaking.
Taye Balogun
Film Director, Activist, Educator and an international development practitioner. He has worked on several film projects in Africa & Europe – and is credited with 7 feature films and several TV commercials. Taye has consulted for the United Nations (UNDP, UNHCR, UNESCO), the African Union and several International organizations such as Oxfam International, Action Aid, Amnesty International, Crisis Action, Christian Aid, Save The Children amongst others. He has led successful campaigns and advocacy initiatives on Peace & Security, Climate change, Gender, Education, Good governance, SGBV and quality health. Some of his campaigns includes; Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), Spoilers Of Peace Awards, Action 2015, Gender Rights, Climate Justice, Right to quality education, Illicit Financial Flow.
Taye is a TEDx speaker and an alumni of Unleash. His teachings on African cinema and films for development have earned him an invitation to present his work in Havard, Howard, and Georgetown universities. A very passionate African who believes art is the best medium to communicate change. Taye is the founder of The CARROT Co. and The NGO International film festival respectively. He sits on the Advisory Board of Ecoflix and The Graphix Project in partnership with Yale University.
