Exhibition: School of Visual Arts. Curated by Beatrice Levorato coordinated by the lecturer Emiliano Coletta. At LCA Law Firm in Via della Moscova 18, Milan, from 26 July to 18 November 2021.
“The position in which the bees sleep – Scraps and other looks”, was born from the collaboration between the School of Visual Arts RUFA, LCA Law Firm and Beeopak. The students involved (Ginevra Ludovici, Ginevra Miccaddei, Giulia Di Pasquale, Lorenzo Cappella, Miriana D’Alessandro, Sofia Sotto Corona, Tanek – Francesco Politano, Federica Griesi, Alessandro Martina, Stefano Tenti, Giulia Gaia Rossi, Claudia Cermentini, Alessia Saliu, Elisabetta Eufemia, Valeria Caceres), coordinated by Emiliano Coletta, were confronted with beeswax, a material produced by insects that are fragile yet indispensable for our survival.
Through a new vision, the artists have worked to give life to materials made from scraps. In this scenario, beeswax becomes a material to be moulded, to be combined with other recyclable objects, in a project of art and environmental sustainability.
At the same time, the artists behaved like a colony of bees, borrowing from the hive a collective modus operandi, while maintaining their own singular stylistic identity: each one collaborated in the construction of this installation in which one can see both the industriousness of bees and the very idea of recycling.
