24 – 28 June 2024 – RUFA Space, Via degli Ausoni, 7. Free entrance.

“Counterproof” – a reverse impression – is a technique where a print is taken from a freshly printed image, rather than from the original matrix. This method not only challenges the traditional process by using the print itself as the source, but it also calls into question the nature of the original.
The artists in this exhibition are metaphorically ‘breaking’ the conventional vessel of printmaking to reveal the essence of unique identities, from various stand points of proof and counterproof. Their works embody a quest to uncover the soul of personhood beyond physical form.
In some cases they break the bound of flatness and explore dimensions, making the viewer move and explore them from different perspectives. In other cases, they aim to peel away the outer layers of identity, revealing the essence of human existence that transcends mere appearance. All the works seek the profound essence of personhood, often separating identity from the physical body, like the counter-proof that picks up its identity from the print rather than the plate.
