Gabriele Mainetti entered the world of cinema by graduating in History and Criticism of Cinema at Roma Tre and initially made his debut as an actor (Il cielo in una stanza, Another year and then I grow up). He then tried his hand at directing, becoming one of the most promising young Italian filmmakers. He has shot many shorts, among which the most famous are “Basette” (with Valerio Mastandrea, Marco Giallini, Daniele Liotti and Luisa Ranieri) which landed at the Locarno Film Festival and also won the best short film award at the Short Film Festival La 25esima ora , and “Tiger Boy”, winner of the Nastro d’Argento 2013 as best short film and finalist at the David di Donatello.
