Martina Valente studied in Rome at the Liceo Classico E.Q. Visconti high school in Rome; in 2014 she enrolled in the three-year diploma course in photography at the Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA). She won an Erasmus scholarship and studied for six months at the Art and Design Institut (ADI) in Prague. Here she did an internship at the Eleutheria Foundation, and exhibited some of her photographs in the exhibition “Italian Young Street Photography”, curated by Genny Di Bert and organised by the Foundation in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague. She graduated from RUFA in 2017 and worked for a year as an assistant photographer to Valerio de Berardinis, portrait photographer and advertiser, assisting him in photo and video campaigns for Babington Tea Room, Eataly, Rai and Doppelgänger. Together with de Berardinis she curates the exhibitions “BEFORE SEX” at Tevere Art Gallery and “MATRICE” at Pastificio Cerere. In October 2018 they founded and opened “TEMPOGALLERY/Valente de Berardinis”, a temporary art house focused on photography, in Rome. She is currently studying at the Magistrale in Visual Arts and Fashion at IUAV in Venice attending masterclasses with curators and artists such as Cally Spooner, Antoni Muntadas, Angela Vettese and Marco Bertozzi and collaborates as a photographer on several articles for Munchies, Food by VICE.
