The Ragusa Foto Festival kicks off

From 23 July to 29 August in Sicily, in Ragusa Ibla, one of Italy’s most beautiful Baroque villages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the 20/21 edition of the Ragusa Foto Festival, an international event dedicated to the different languages of contemporary photography and the promotion of young talent from all over the world, will conclude.

More than twenty selected projects will be exhibited in the ancient palaces La Rocca and Cosentini, the Auditorium (deconsecrated church) San Vincenzo Ferreri and in the Giardino Ibleo. During the opening days, from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 July, in addition to the opening of the exhibitions in the presence of some of the photographers selected for this edition, the Festival offers a rich programme of events with portfolio readings, seminars, talks, guided tours and lunches with experts and authors of international renown.

The Festival is produced and organised by the Antiruggine Association, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, MIC, with the support of the Embassy of Israel, the Embassy of the Netherlands, Fondazione Con il Sud, Fondazione di Comunità Val di Noto, of Caritas Italiana, the Presidency of the Assembly of the Region of Sicily and its Departments for Cultural Heritage and Tourism, the Municipality of Ragusa, Banca Agricola Popolare di Ragusa, the Chamber of Commerce of South-East Sicily and the Libero Consorzio Comunale of Ragusa.

These are the selected authors: Frijke Coumans “Gardeners of Desire”, Aurore Del Mas “Don’t love me I’m your toy”, Alba Zari “The Y”, Jonna Bruinsma “Dragon”, Yaakov Israel “The Black Horseman”, Alexis Vasilikos “A Lover’s Sequence”, Giacomo Alberico “After The Gold Rush”, Jenia Fridlyand “The leaves will fall from the sky”, Francesco Levy “Azimuths of Celestial Bodies”, Federico Arcangeli “Pleasure Island”, João Henriques “School Affairs”, Giovanni Presutti “Give me liberty or give me death”, Simon Van Geel “Megalomania Delusions of Grandeur”. Also on show are Alessandro Scattolini’s “We the wind stops”, winner of the 2019 edition “Best Portfolio” award and the projects “Holy Week in Sicily” by Daniele Vita and “True fictions: Superheroes” by Francesco di Robilant and Anna La Rosa.
