The Sala Santa Rita reopens in the very centre of Rome, near the Teatro Marcello, with twelve contemporary art works to be chosen through a call for applications that has already been published. Formerly known as the “Church of Santa Rita da Cascia in Campitelli”, the Sala Santa Rita has hosted exhibitions, installations and performances that dialogue with the architecture of the site, enhancing its original structure. After 20 months since the last exhibition, the site reopens with an innovative, ongoing programme until the end of the year that also involves students from the Fine Arts Academies.
The call for entries, managed by Palaexpo, is aimed at selecting a maximum number of twelve exhibition projects, for which a reimbursement of expenses is also envisaged, to be hosted for fifteen consecutive days each inside Sala Santa Rita in the period between 1 July and 31 December 2021..
The invitation to submit projects is addressed to artists, art critics, curators, gallery owners, creative communities, associations, cultural operators, institutions and, more generally, to anyone who is able to present an exhibition project of contemporary art that meets the criteria of quality and originality of the call. Projects will be taken into consideration that foresee the presentation of works realised with different media, for example: painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video, installation, audio installation, performance and others. The projects, moreover, may also contemplate the contamination of different disciplines and artistic languages. All the initiatives will be free admission.
Details of how to take part in the competition are published on the PalaExpo website. The application form must be sent to risorse.umane@pec.palaexpo.it by 1pm on 11 June 2021.
