The project
Approaching and fighting with movable type and letterpress, overcoming its problems and dealing with the arrangement of the elements, this is all that makes this printing technique so interesting and open to new experiments in the graphic processing field.
During the meeting, the three Graphic Design classes were divided into two groups. Both groups were provided with two phrases about San Lorenzo district, to be composed with movable type: one from De Gregori’s song ‘San Lorenzo’, the other from Pascoli’s poem ’X agosto’. Assembling verses written by such great authors with focus and analog attention, the contact with ink and the fabric of the paper, the gesture of the press pushing the sheet on the ink gave the printed posters a deeper meaning and made them closer to a district so lived and alive as San Lorenzo is.
