“Lucca Biennale Cartasia” is an event entirely dedicated to paper. The 2022 edition invites all students of art, design and cinema to create works and performances using paper, cardboard and its derivatives.
The opening date of the Biennale is July 31, 2022, and the works will be exhibited until September 25. There are two main sections: the Outdoor exhibition seeks artists who create monumental works entirely in paper and cardboard to be produced as part of an artist residency that will take place in Lucca; the Indoor exhibition accepts any form of art that exploits the potential of paper, that shows its versatility, performance and that creates the deepest bond with this material and audiovisual products that employ it in an original way.
The theme of the 2022 edition is “White Page”: to represent the infinite opportunities to design a different world, to give form and substance to a better future. The white page is a bridge between past and future.
The deadline for submission of projects for the Outdoor Section is set for 31 October 2021. For the Indoor section, the deadline is set for January 15, 2022. To participate in the call is necessary to fill out the forms.
