In memory of Professor Ilaria Ciardi and in order to promote the enhancement of the language of chalcographic techniques, the Ravenna Academy of Fine Arts announces the Ilaria Ciardi Engraving Prize for the year 2021. The competition has a single prize of 500 euros financed by Banca di credito cooperativo ravennate forlivese e imolese. You can take part with three works created exclusively using graphic and intaglio techniques, without exceeding the maximum sheet size of 50×70 cm.
To participate, simply send photographs of the 3 works in high resolution, along with the application form by email to beatricetommasi@comune.ra.it, or by registered mail (printed images or on a USB stick) to the address Accademia di belle arti di Ravenna – Via delle Industrie, 76 – 48122 Ravenna, indicating on the envelope “Prize for chalcographic engraving “Ilaria Ciardi” – year 2021″ and the name of the sender. The shipment must be made no later than April 25, 2021.
A special jury will evaluate the works received and select the 30 works to be exhibited at the Galleria Michele Tosi of Aba Ravenna starting from May 6, anniversary of the death of Ilaria Ciardi. Among the 30 works selected, the winning work will be chosen and the prize will be awarded on the day of the official opening of the exhibition.
The winning work will become property of the academy for the constitution of the prize. The decisions of the jury will be made known through the communication channels of Aba Ravenna.
Ilaria Ciardi, born in Florence in 1968, graduated in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Her work is characterized by a strong tendency to a surreal and metaphysical image. Working in the field of engraving, drawing and sculpture in terracotta, she has made over time cycles of personal and collective exhibitions.
