The Academy of Fine Arts of Catania, in collaboration with the Ragusa Foto Festival, has announced a contest aimed at enhancing the work of students of photography courses that evoke the theme of the edition 2021: “the desire in its various forms”.
The students will be offered the opportunity to participate to the selection for the publication of the finalists in the catalog “Young Photographers from Italian Academies”, produced by the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania, and to the exhibition within the Ragusa Foto Festival.
Within the next 10th of July it will be up to the single educational institution to send the selected projects to the e-mail address ypiacall@abacatania.it. On Saturday, July 24, during the opening day of the festival, in a special talk in the presence of the jury, the list of the awarded projects of the competition will be announced.
The idea was born to build a sharing platform that enhances the best proposals selected by Italian schools, offering an observatory of exchange between students, professionals and experts in photography and to strengthen the Italian partnership with “Blurring the Lines”, an international talent scouting program aimed at recent graduates in the disciplines of visual arts, networking and international exchange between universities founded in 2016 by Steve Bisson, artistic director of Ragusa Foto Festival, and Klaus Fruchtnis, head of the Department of Photography at Paris College of Art, with the collaboration of Urbanautica Institute, FOTODOK and European Cultural Centre.
