“The periodicals that launched digital publishing.” This is the theme of the talk that will take place on Wednesday 5 February from 10 am in RUFA Aula Magna in Via Taro. The meeting with Benedetta Torrani, curated by lecturer Luigi Iacobelli, is focused on the analysis of publications dealing with videogames and graphics: it is addressed to all RUFA students and is particularly recommended for those who study editorial graphics and interface graphics.
Benedetta Torrani’s talk aims to offer a three-hundred and sixty degree overview of the publishing market, starting from the first Italian magazines in which the production process was, in whole or in part, linked to menabò and films, and then moving on to the gradual introduction of desktop publishing and the difference in working methods. The aim is to verify whether interfaces and software have influenced the editorial graphics of those publications that were the first to experiment the use of new techniques and production methods.
Journalist, translator and publisher, Benedetta Torrani founded Studio Vit of which she is CEO and president. Studio Vit was the first Italian publishing company to use desktop publishing systems. Specialized in “electronic entertainment”, she created the first Italian videogames magazines: “Videogiochi”, “K”, “Zzap”. It was she who started Fantacalcio, first by fax and telephone and then entirely on the web. Editorial director of the “Associazione italiana biologica”, she founded and still runs “il Mangiabio”, the first fortnightly online magazine dedicated to conscious consumption. She is part of the Nottetempo publishing house (general manager), she is a member of Edicola Italiana and of the Digital Magics incubator. She lives and works between Rome and Milan.
Registrations will open on Monday 27 January and close on Tuesday 4 February. All the info in the didactic secretary’s office.
