With a title that pays homage to the master Wassily Kandinsky on 18 January at 4 p.m., the exhibition “PUNTO, LINEA, SUPERFICIE” was inaugurated at the Museum of the City of Rimini, in Via Tonini 1: an itinerary dedicated to artists’ books, with a selection of works curated by the National Association of Contemporary Engravers. The exhibition also directly involved a group of students from RUFA Visual arts courses who participated in the realization of the experience, both from an ideative and practical point of view. Specifically: Beatrice Levorato, Stefano Tenti, Amedeo Longo and Davide Meceli.
The artist’s book, with its language suspended between the classicism of more traditional artistic printing techniques and a contemporary language, has had as its prerogative the use of sign and drawing to explore new forms and possibilities of dialogue with the public. Hovering between craftsmanship and artistic experimentation, it is the art object that lends itself most to interdisciplinary dialogue.
The exhibition, curated by RUFA lecturers Maria Pina Bentivenga, Umberto Giovannini and Gianna Bentivenga, as well as registering the support of the Contemporary Engravers Association and the staff of the Museums Sector, was conceived as a photograph of the Italian panorama of the artist’s book through the works of one of the most interesting and active associations of original graphics.
Among others were been on display the books made by: Mario Alimede, Eva Aulman, Gianna Bentivenga, Maria Pina Bentivenga, Silvia Braida, Vincenzo Burlizzi, Ada Candussi, Malgorzata Chomicz, Graziella Da Gioz, Elisabetta Diamanti, Gino Di Pieri, Fernando Di Stefano, Eriko Kito, Umberto Giovannini, Gabriella Locci, Francesca Marcolin, Raffaello Margheri, Bonizza Modolo. In addition to a selection of the series “Vacuum Editions” by Opificio della Rosa.
The exhibition was open from 18th January to 15th March 2020, Tuesday to Saturday, from 9.30 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 7 pm; Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm.
