An energy that, as usual, enveloped Rome, transferring the magic and atmosphere of cinema to the many young people who took part in the event. The thirteenth edition of the 48 Hour Film Project has come to an end. In the setting of Ex Caserma Guido Reni, between 18 and 20 October, the aspiring filmmakers challenged each other to make their short film in just 48 hours according to a genre drawn by themselves and some guidelines unveiled by the organizers during the kick off: in addition to the genre is assigned a character, an object of the scene and a phrase to be included in the short.
For the fifth consecutive year RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts has assigned a special prize, offering a cash prize to the best talent. The gala evening was attended by the managing director Alessandro Mongelli, the director Fabio Mongelli and the lecturer Raffaele Simongini. Special guest, even if in virtual form, Daniele Ciprì who stressed the value of the event and the educational value of the same. RUFA Special Award for Best Talent was given, by Ciprì himself, to Francesco Agostini, director of “The Newspaper”. Daniele Ciprì, in the video projected, wanted to emphasize the value not only of the director of the film, but of all the figures involved in its realization. The short film was created and written by Valentina Luca, produced by Uragani Nudi, with photography by Alex Cavuoto. Camera operators Marco Bonci and Alex Cavuoto; production assistant Natalia Nieves Iszakovits; music by Lorenzo Badioli and Lorenzo Barone; sound Giacomo Bertozzini; costumes Valentina Luca Laura Majani. Ilaria Canalini, Antonio Frazzoni and Luca Sisti Honoured the actors who took part in the project.
“RUFA – explained the director Fabio Mongelli – is proud to be at the side of the students in this path. The British writer Tom Hodgkinson used to say that “a career is a path traced by an external authority, but those who are really free, instead, choose their own path through the woods. The recognition that the Academy gives is the physical representation that every goal can be reached, that every road, small or large, can be followed and faced.
The festival is organized with the contribution and patronage of the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual – Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and the Embassy of the United States of America. The whole experience is organized by Le Bestevem, a cultural association composed only of women, working in the artistic and audiovisual sector, engaged in the search for new models of conception, production and audiovisual distribution.
