Recognizing Discrimination

Discrimination is defined as behavior – direct or indirect – that results in unequal treatment of a person or group of people because of their belonging to a particular category.

Direct discrimination occurs when actions place a person or group of people in a disadvantaged position or situation.

Indirect discrimination occurs when a rule, regulation, practice, criterion, or seemingly neutral parameter actually places a person or group at a disadvantage.

Anyone who believes they have been subject to discrimination, harassment, or retaliation can report it, even anonymously.

For better handling of the report, it is recommended to provide as many details as possible.
