From April 10 to April 14, 2025, the exhibition spaces of the Egyptian Academy of Fine Arts in Rome will host the show “ANTIBODIES – Selected works by RUFA’s Visual Arts students,” a selection of significant works created by students enrolled in the BA courses in Painting and Sculpture.
The opening is scheduled for Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m., in the presence of Professor Rania Yehia, who welcomes visitors into the gallery as part of the ongoing cultural and artistic cooperation between Italy and Egypt. The exhibition project is the result of a collaboration between the Egyptian Academy of Fine Arts and RUFA, and is curated by professors Davide Dormino and Fabrizio Dell’Arno.
The concept of the exhibition draws inspiration from the role of art as a “social antibody”: a creative force capable of reacting to, defending against, and highlighting the challenges of our time. Just as antibodies protect the body from external threats, art — and artists themselves — safeguard the cultural fabric of society from decay, injustice, and conformity.
In this context, RUFA young artists become true “B lymphocytes” of creativity, activating critical thinking through personal visions and diverse expressive languages. The works on display convey fragility and strength, intuition and protest, dream and awareness — offering a wide spectrum of contemporary perspectives.
In parallel with the exhibition, a conference on the theme of Intellectual Property Protection will also take place, promoted in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and LUISS University. The event will feature Italian and Egyptian institutional representatives, who will explore national strategies for defending creativity and combating artistic and intellectual piracy.
