RUFA, IIS “GAETANO DE SANCTIS” AND MUNICIPIO XV ROMA CAPITALE: together for the enhancement of the common good.
“A protocol created to structure virtuous actions that equally involve art, education, environment, and territory.” Within this framework, an agreement was signed at the headquarters of the “Gaetano De Sanctis” High School in Rome. The agreement involves not only the school and the world of associations, but above all Municipio XV Roma Capitale. The goal is to promote topics that are especially important to the younger generations: from sustainable development to the appreciation of nature, without forgetting the spread of individual civic responsibility.
Students and teachers from the “Gaetano De Sanctis” High School will take care of the green area known as “La Moletta”, located along Via Cassia in the northern quadrant of the Capital, supporting the site’s revival based on urban redevelopment interventions and activities agreed upon with the institutions, following a specific schedule.
“In this initiative,” explains RUFA director, architect Fabio Mongelli, “we are integrating the talent and creativity of RUFA students, who will create Land Art installations on the low walls and along the stairways connecting Via Cassia to Via La Moletta. The Design and Graphic Design students, alongside the high school students, will develop a decoration project and design the graphic layout of the informational boards. The experience will also be documented by Cinema students, who will produce a dedicated docufilm.”
“We can only,” says the principal of “Gaetano De Sanctis”, Professor Cosima Stefania Chimienti, “be pleased with the implementation of this project. One of the Institute’s top educational priorities is to develop active and democratic citizenship skills, also through solidarity, care for the commons, awareness of rights and duties, and the adoption of responsible behaviors inspired by the understanding and respect of environmental sustainability and natural and landscape heritage. In this context, the school acts as an active community, open to the territory, aiming to foster and enhance interaction with the local community.”
“The sharing of a common goal,” concludes the president of Municipio XV, Daniele Torquati, “allows us to operate in a spirit of collaboration and mutual trust. In this sense, the community becomes inclusive, capable of inspiring its actions according to the principles of subsidiarity, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, transparency, safety, and legality. The enhancement of a public area for collective use thus becomes a synthesis of education and social engagement.”
