Christian Angeli presents “Controfigura” with the participation of RUFA students and Alumni.
From January 21 to 26, 2025, “Controfigura” will be staged, a play directed by RUFA professor and director Christian Angeli. An intense work, with dramaturgy by Antonello Toti, freely inspired by Come tu mi vuoi by Luigi Pirandello, which explores themes of identity, memory, and resistance to a destiny imposed by others.
The production actively involves RUFA talents, both in the creative and performative fields. Among the assistant directors are students Antonio Candalice, Veronica Castiello, and Rachele Verzelli. The set design is curated by Claudia De Palma, a RUFA alumna, and Giorgia Loser, a current student. On stage, among the actors, is also RUFA professor Francesco Polizzi, who helps bring this intense narrative to life.
SYNOPSIS
Belgrade-Serbia. Sarajevo-Bosnia.
The life of Sasha, a former stunt double now working in the porn industry, is disrupted by the arrival of a man who reveals information about a past she does not remember. The woman embarks on a personal investigation between Belgrade and Sarajevo to uncover the truth about herself, while an unknown figure lurks in the shadows, waiting to take the place that belongs to her. Meanwhile, the scars left by a fratricidal war struggle to heal.
DIRECTOR’S NOTES
Is there a way to escape the role of scapegoat imposed by society on those who seem unable to actively resist and avoid being crushed? Seeking dialogue with Pirandello’s original work, the play attempts to provide an answer through the protagonist’s journey: on the one hand, her fatal attraction to the role of sacrificial victim; on the other, her struggle to elude this dynamic and rebel against the two families who, in order to avoid taking responsibility for their actions, attempt to reduce her to a mere object for their purposes.
