Camilla Gurgone (Lucca, 1997), Alumna of the RUFA course in Sculpture and Installation, has been named the Best Young Italian Artist of 2024 by Artribune. A prestigious recognition that celebrates the talent and dedication of an artist who has distinguished herself through innovative and refined research.
Camilla Gurgone’s journey is rich in achievements. During her studies at RUFA, she won the SkyArte Award and the Jury Prize at the RUFA Contest 2019. Subsequently, she garnered other significant accolades, including the Arte in Arti e Mestieri Award and the JaguArt 2021 Award. She’s also the winner of the residency project “Nuovo Grand Tour – Edition 2,” promoted by the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity and the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris. Today, as a rising star represented by the Milanese gallery Viasaterna, Camilla stands out as an emerging figure in the Italian contemporary art scene.
The motivation for the Artribune award highlights Camilla’s ability to explore sculpture, installation, and long-duration performances. Her most recent works blend poetry and artificial intelligence, with a keen focus on materials and detail. Among her creations are ceramic receipts containing poetic verses and fleeting dreamscapes, expressions of an elegant and deeply evocative artistic language.
RUFA is proud to celebrate Camilla’s accomplishments, demonstrating how passion and commitment can lead to artistic and professional success. This recognition serves as an inspiration for the entire academic community and as an incentive for future generations of artists.
