RUFA and the Meishi Film Academy of Chongqing University collaborate for a joint educational activity dedicated to the Chinese film “Ping Pong: The Return”, distributed in Italian cinemas by Imago Communication.
On Wednesday, November 13, at 10:00 AM, at the RUFA campus in Milan, film students from both universities, guided by their professors, will engage in an intercultural exchange centered on the film “Ping Pong: The Return”.
RUFA and the Meishi Film Academy of Chongqing University have launched a project focused on exchanging and sharing cultural resources and teaching methodologies, with the goal of cultivating international talent, promoting cultural diplomacy between Italy and China, and fostering innovation.
As part of this project, a discussion on the Chinese film “PING PONG: The Return” will take place at the new RUFA campus in Milan, located at Piazzale Lugano 19. The film, directed by Deng Chao and Yu Baimei, will be released in Italian cinemas by Imago Communication starting November 14. On Wednesday, November 13, at 10:00 AM, students from both institutions will gather for an online meeting to initiate an educational activity. By analyzing scenes and sequences from the film, students will learn about the development of the production process, supported by a storyboard, with a particular focus on innovative and sports-themed scripts like that of “PING PONG: The Return”.
Set between 1992 and 1995, the film follows the story of Dai Minjia, a ping pong coach inspired by Cai Zhenhua, who returns to China after being abroad, determined to rebuild the national team and lead it to success. Under his guidance, five players (Ding Song, Ma Wenge, Wang Tao, Liu Guoliang, and Kong Linghui) compete in the World Championships in Tianjin, launching a desperate yet thrilling counteroffensive.
“The activities surrounding the film PING PONG: The Return,” states RUFA Director Fabio Mongelli, “are part of a comprehensive project developed in synergy with the Meishi Film Academy of Chongqing University: workshops, events, screenings, and discussions immerse students in a multicultural and collaborative environment, allowing them to grow both professionally and personally, enhancing technical skills on one hand while honing interpersonal and communication abilities on the other, all within an international context.”
