Caterina Tomeo at the Roma Europa Festival 2024

On Friday, October 11 at 7:00 PM Caterina Tomeo, coordinator of the RUFA Department of Multimedia Arts and Design, will be one of the protagonists of the Roma Europa Festival with the talk “VOICE – The phenomenon of voice between the immaterial and the carnal.”

The presentation will focus on a transdisciplinary theme, also explored in her book coming out in November 2024, which aims to define a debate that is still fragmented and largely to be constructed. At the center of the reflection is the sound experimentation in art, with particular attention to the voice, from extended vocal techniques to its expressive potential in singing and dramatic speech.

The talk will delve into aspects such as the concept of trace and sound document, related to hauntology and the phenomenology of listening, the relationship between sound and environment, sound composition in space, and the collaborative making of art and music. Caterina Tomeo will lead the dialogue alongside the authors who contributed to the book: Agnese Banti, Gaia Ginevra Giorgi, Muta Imago, and Studio Fuse.
