RUFA students of Sustainable Fashion Design flew to Seville to discover the secrets of flamenco fashion at the partner institute ESSDM – Escuela Superior Sevilla De Moda.
The initiative is part of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes, in which RUFA students actively participate throughout the academic year.
From July 10 to 17, 2024, RUFA fashion designers Luca Gaddini, Leonardo Messina and Maria Benedetta Bertoncini had the opportunity to experiment and showcase their creations inspired by the rich Andalusian tradition.
The Erasmus BIP project focused on “creating fashion with Andalusian identity,” bringing together talents and teachers from prestigious European institutions: RUFA, Universidade de Beira Interior, Accademia di Belle Arti Pietro Vannucci of Perugia, and Accademia di Belle Arti of Naples.
During their stay, participants worked under the guidance of professors Manuel Amador, Trinidad Lobo, Cathaysa Medina, and María José Leal, experts in flamenco costume and Andalusian culture.
The closing fashion show, held at the ESSDM facilities, was a true celebration of creativity and collective effort. Each group of students presented their interpretation of the flamenco costume, highlighting the perfect fusion of tradition and modernity in their designs.
“We are very proud of the results achieved and the enthusiasm shown by all participants,” commented Mercedes Pereira, Erasmus BIP program coordinator at ESSDM. “The cultural and academic exchange has been enriching for all of us, and we are grateful for the collaboration and admiration of our Andalusian traditions by the participating institutions.”
The Erasmus BIP initiative not only allowed students to acquire new skills and knowledge but also promoted understanding and appreciation of Andalusian culture at an international level.
