ARCHIVIO CONTEMPORANEO EXHIBITION - RUFA - Rome University of Fine Arts

RUFA is Educational Partner of ARCHIVIO CONTEMPORANEO EXHIBITION – Produced and curated by Visioni Parallele Creative Studio, promoted by the Department of Culture of Roma Capitale and Azienda Speciale Palaexpo.

An immersive museum experience with the dynamic and multidisciplinary identity of a festival: installations, educational activities, exhibition experiences and audio-visual performances that will envelop the spectator in an engaging and dynamic space. Archivio Contemporaneo is the manifestation of research, it is the symbol of the feeling and relationship between the human being and the digital contemporary.

From 13 April to 12 May 2024 the historic pavilion of the Mattatoio, Rome’s centre of research and cultural production, will be transformed into an experiential journey, involving, for the first time, a selection of international artistsə and incredible immersive works, which, through the use of artificial intelligence, mixed and virtual reality, will challenge our perception of reality.

The project, realised in a network with Videocittà – the festival of vision and digital culture, will see the participation as educational partner of RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts and will involve numerous content and media partners active on the national territory such as COEVAL, Klang, Teamcro, Umanesimo Artificiale, Border, Inactual Magazine, Zero.eu and Scomodo.
During the month of the opening, it will be possible to take part in the Archivio Contemporaneo public programme, which will be held exclusively within the exhibition spaces: it will include workshops, talks, screenings and live A\V aimed at professionals, students, enthusiasts and new creatives.
Participants will be able to develop a greater awareness in the use of technologies and software, discuss with leading experts, explore new sounds and witness performative experiments. The aim is to open the doors of the new contemporary digital industry, apply their imagination through production tools and create new connections within a real, inclusive and observational space.

Visioni Parallele Creative Studio proposes a hybrid project born out of the need to narrate some of the most interesting contemporary phenomena, the genesis of which is to be found in a research from which questions have emerged with insistence, evoking reflections that oscillate between hyper-technological scenarios, nostalgia, online practices, new media and generative systems.
Archivio Contemporaneo thus takes the dual form of a database, but also a conceptual and visual laboratory in which to reflect and realise new perspectives and reconstructions of the world.

The exhibition will take the form of a labyrinthine path within which four different Imaginaries (Me, My screen and I, Metaspace, Third Self and Crudo) will come to life, including works by: Lorem (World Premiere), Lorenza Liguori & Daniele Polacco, Affirmations, Sara Sadik, Burnt CD, Jackson Kaki, God Scorpion, NYU, The Circumstances (Nic Paranoia and Giorgio Cassano), STUDIOCROMATO.
With them we will discover digital cultures, generative software, Internet landscapes, virtual aesthetics, but also desires and obsessions born from the use of technological devices and the computer network.
Questioning the definition of reality and simulation and starting from a constellation of artistic views and research, we will inhabit new spaces moving within a transmedia path marked by synthetic tones.
