FTA – Fashion Technology Accelerator, the fashion-tech startup accelerator based in Milan, has announced the launch of “Scale7”, an incubator for innovative women entrepreneurs in Qatar, with the aim of creating and developing an ecosystem in the creativity industry and in particular in the fields of fashion, design and technology.
In this ambitious project RUFA has been identified as the cultural partner for the education sector. Anna Lottersberger, in her capacity as Academic development and international marketing office, will be holding a lecture-workshop on 8 June at 3 p.m. entitled “BYBI Build your brand identity”, focusing on defining the brand identity for new fashion brands.
“Scale7” is sponsored by the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and is based at M7, the creative and cultural hub operating under the Qatar Museums, in the heart of Msheireb Downtown Doha. M7 was launched with the aim of being the leading destination for culture, education and entrepreneurship to support the emerging creative industries in Qatar.
Fashion Technology Accelerator has been selected by QDB as the exclusive partner to manage the services offered by “Scale7”. A recognition that confirms the interest and appreciation that global stakeholders show towards FTA and the Italian fashion ecosystem. In 2018 FTA, in fact, established a partnership with a Singapore-based investment fund interested in co-investing in the startups selected by the team for a total of € 1 million. With the closing of the new call for startups, FTA has reached a portfolio that exceeds 30 startups with an aggregate value of the holdings of around € 40 million.
The Ambassador of Italy in Qatar Alessandro Prunas, after visiting M7, underlined that it is “a really ambitious and interesting project for the development of the fashion sector in Qatar and in the region”.“I am particularly proud – said Prunas – that an Italian incubator and accelerator, specialised in consulting activities for fashion start-ups, has been assigned the task of assisting young talents in consolidating their business and using innovative tools to transform their creativity into successful ideas on the market. It is a recognition of Italian expertise in the fashion sector, which has been able to innovate thanks to managerial skills, winning intuitions and making use of new technologies.
