An integrated project to decline in unison a series of live talks with important figures in the creative industry and an innovative and exciting exhibition. The RUFA lecturer Rita Petruccioli, directly from the course of Graphic design – Comics and illustration, will be pulling the strings of this project. Specifically, this is a project that brings together the Embassy of the United States of America, the ARF! Festival and some RUFA students. The experience involves the curatorship of a series of online talks, linked to the exhibition “Women in Comics”, which will open in June in the spaces of Palazzo Merulana. A dialogue between important American and Italian authors on issues dear to the feminist debate seen through their work as comic artists.
The exhibition curated by Kim Munson and Trina Robbins was imported by ARF! directly from the prestigious Society of Illustrator in New York and traces the history of women in comics in the North American market from the 1950s to the present day.
On Thursday, March 25, the U.S. Embassy will talk about the Women in Comics project as part of the Transatlantic Thursdays live stream. The talk will be with Kim Munson, curator of the exhibition, Rita Petruccioli and Francesca Torre, curators of the Women in comics talks. The embassy has asked to give the opportunity to comics students to participate in the meeting with a series of questions and for the occasion 4 students of the class 2B of Comics and illustration have been selected: Andrea Giuliani, Elena Zannoni, Ginevra Gatti and Sabina Sodaro.
