Realized in collaboration with the Department of History, Anthropology, Religions, Art, Entertainment of the Sapienza University of Rome, the “Video Essay Film Festival” is addressed to all university students of national and international film academies and schools. Participants are asked to propose a critical essay (on an author, a theme, a genre), exploring issues related to cinema and contemporary television seriality, focusing on the relationship between media and arts, but also choosing more playful-experimental forms such as re-cut trailer, sweded trailer and mash up. The audiovisual product must not, however, exceed the maximum limit of fifteen minutes, including credits and credits.
The material sent in is evaluated by a jury chaired by Laura Delli Colli, president of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, assisted by the director of the Casa del Cinema Giorgio Gosetti, the president of the Fondazione MAXXI Giovanna Melandri and the producer Camilla Nesbitt.
The authors of the five selected video essays will receive, as a tribute, accreditation for the next edition of the Rome Film Festival. The winner will also receive an annual subscription to the MAXXI National Museum of XXI Century Arts.
To read the rules and participate in the competition consult the website Video Essay Film Festival. Materials must be uploaded no later than Monday 9 March.
