Getting to know an internationally renowned artist is a very unique experience. RUFA’s visual arts students had the honor of living a whole day with Koichi Yamamoto. He is an artist who blends traditional and contemporary techniques in order to develop unique and innovative approaches to the language of graphic arts.
On 17 December the exhibition “Static-Dynamic” was presented in the spaces of the Fondazione Pastificio Cerere located in Via degli Ausoni 7. The meeting and the exhibition were born from the initiative of the lecturers of the visual arts department: Umberto Giovannini, Gianna Bentivenga, Maria Pina Bentivenga, Emiliano Coletta and Fabrizio Pizzuto.
Koichi Yamamoto’s work ranges from two-dimensional works to three-dimensional objects, such as kites, which are part of his most recent works.
His prints explore the themes of the sublime, memory and atmosphere. He has worked on many scales, from meticulously engraved small copper sheets to large monotypes. He has exhibited in numerous international art exhibitions. He has taught at Utah State University and the University of Delaware and is currently an associate professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
The exhibition will be open until January 16, 2020. We remind you the opening hours of the exhibition: Monday to Saturday, from 3 pm to 7 pm. The Christmas break will begin on 21 December 2019 and will end on 6 January 2020 included.
