The notice of admission to the free courses of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato has been published. For the school year 2019/2020, there are 12 places for students of the three-year ordinary course and 12 places for the annual preparatory course of the Scuola dell’arte della medaglia, established at the Zecca. The ordinary three-year course is aimed at learning the techniques of medals and related disciplines. The annual preparatory course is aimed at preparing for the entrance exam to the ordinary course.
The three-year course is based on the following subjects: engraving, bas-relief modelling, embossing and chiselling, wax modelling, three-dimensional design, drawing, forming, microforming, enamel, chalcographic engraving, computer graphics, restoration, hard stone engraving, technology, art history. While the annual preparatory course focuses on the subjects of drawing and modeling. Attendance is compulsory. Admitted students are not required to pay any amount.
For admission to the competition, in addition to the age of majority, it is necessary that the participants have obtained a degree of artistic studies compatible with the specialization of the School. Young people may also be admitted to the competition who, in possession of other qualifications, prove their aptitude for the art of medal with certificates, drawings, photographs of works and anything else considered suitable for evaluation by the Artistic Committee of the School that will decide on admission.
At the end of the three-year ordinary course and of the preparatory course, the School issues a certificate to students who have obtained sufficient results in all subjects.
Applications for admission, with the documentation indicated in the call for applications, must be received by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato SpA – Scuola dell’Arte della Medaglia, no later than 5 p.m. on 13 September 2019.
