The second edition of the project “Stories of circular economy” is now underway. According to the definition of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the circular economy is designed to regenerate itself. In a circular economy, there are two types of material flows: biological ones, which can be reintegrated into the biosphere, and technical ones, which are destined to be revalued without entering the biosphere. The circular economy is therefore an economic system planned to reuse materials in subsequent production cycles, reducing waste to a minimum.
The experience, managed by the “Documentation Centre on Environmental Conflicts” and the Ecodom Consortium, is aimed at journalists, videomakers, writers, photographers and illustrators, who wish to tell, through videos, photographs, podcasts, graphic novels and writings, a small, great story of change in the world of economics. The aim of the competition is to stimulate and promote a renewed awareness of environmental sustainability, new production models and the benefits for the environment and society that derive from virtuous transition processes. The contest is linked to the Italian Atlas of the Circular Economy, a web platform that brings together the realities committed to applying the principles of the circular economy.
Five categories are competing: video, photo, radio, writing and comics. It will be possible to present the works until 30 June 2019. Registration is free. The winning works will be chosen through two phases of evaluation: one online, open until September 30, 2019 on the project website; a second by the technical jury of quality. The jury is composed by experts from the world of information and culture: the director Andrea Segre, the photo editor Giulia Tornari, the journalists Florinda Fiamma and Giuseppe Rizzo, the screenwriter and graphic journalist Luca Scornaienchi.
The winners will be awarded with various prizes: 4,500 euros for the video category, 4,000 euros for the photo category, 2,500 euros for the audio category, 2,500 euros for the comics category, 2,000 euros for the writing category.
